A SIAMS inspection (Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools) is a statutory inspection that evaluates the distinctive Christian vision and character of Church of England and Methodist schools in England. It focuses on how effectively the school’s Christian vision shapes all aspects of school life and supports pupils and adults to flourish.
The inspection considers several key areas, including:
Vision and leadership: how the school’s Christian vision is lived out through leadership, governance, and decision-making.
Wisdom, knowledge and skills: how the curriculum reflects the school’s Christian vision and supports high-quality learning.
Character development: how the school nurtures pupils’ personal development, including values such as compassion, respect, and responsibility.
Community and dignity: how the school promotes inclusion, wellbeing, and positive relationships, ensuring all members of the community are valued.
Collective worship and religious education: how worship and RE contribute to the school’s Christian character and understanding of faith.
SIAMS inspections do not judge overall academic performance like Ofsted. Instead, they assess whether the school is living out its Christian foundation effectively. Schools receive a judgement indicating how well they are enabling pupils and adults to flourish in line with their Christian vision.
Ardleigh St Mary's was last inspected in December 2025 and was graded as a Judgement 1. This means the school is effectively maintaining and living out its Christian foundation.
